Electronic Treatment Authorization Request (eTAR) Available January 15, 2007 for Select Providers
Effective January 15, 2007, the electronic Treatment Authorization Request (eTAR) submission process was made available for the following 11 Medi-Cal provider types and services:

The eTAR submission process was made available October 2, 2006,
for the following Medi-Cal provider types and services:

The eTAR submission process was made available July 27, 2006 for the following Medi-Cal providers and services:

Using the eTAR submission process, providers can create, update, inquire on and view responses for TARs online. Providers also have access to resources such as the "Code Search Tool” for code inquires. Using the eTAR system eliminates mail and paper processing time.
To use the eTAR system, providers must have a Medi-Cal Point of Service (POS) Network/Internet Agreement form on file. On January 15, 2007, 11 new provider types and services listed above with this form on file were automatically activated for eTAR submission. Providers can enter eTAR transactions by logging on to Transaction Services and clicking the “Online TAR Application” link.
Providers whose specific service type is not listed above should continue to refer to future Medi-Cal Updates. The eTAR system will be available for other provider and service types in future months.

“Transaction Services” area by clicking the “eTAR Medical
Tutorials” link.
Instructor-led training is available on a first-come, first-served basis for activated providers. Information about training sessions is listed below. Parking fees may apply.
Additional training sessions may be added. Check the Medi-Cal Web site weekly for updates.
