National Provider Identifier (NPI) registration updates submitted to the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) Provider Enrollment Division (PED) using the Medi-Cal Supplemental Changes form(DHCS 6209) or the facility-only letter option, are not updated on the National Provider Identifier Collection (NPIC) tool on the Medi-Cal Web site. These updates are executed directly to the provider master file by PED. Therefore, providers are not able to access these updates using the inquiry option on NPIC. To verify an NPI registration update that was submitted to PED, please call the Telephone Service Center at 1-800-541-5555 and choose option 16 followed by option 18 for the NPI Helpdesk.

Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP) program providers must also submit their NPI registration updates to the local CHDP program in addition to Medi-Cal. To identify the local CHDP program in your county, please refer to the CHDP County Offices directory.
